Drop everything and read

Drop everything and read!
Books and stories are full of new worlds and experiences, they spark the imagination, build vocabulary and the ability to communicate.
To encourage young people to discover the pleasures of reading Friday 25 April is ‘Drop everything and read’ day. The aim is to encourage ten minutes of reading for fun every day. Students are told to stop whatever they’re doing and pick up a book.
Many schools in Salford have started having these regular reading sessions and it is great for their students.
Reading a story out loud to younger children is really good for their development and is lots of fun too! So if you are a parent or carer why not set aside ten minutes each day and pick up a book?
