The books
For our first 'We are reading IN Salford' project we have chosen 'Private Peaceful' written by Michael Morpurgo, as the book for everyone to read. This story, which has won several awards, will appeal to all age groups and is a moving tale set in World War I.
We want to involve our younger readers in the project so we've chosen another book by the same author - 'Kensuke's Kingdom' for younger children. These books have started their journeys at Salford primary schools.
