Hope High School and a proposed new academy
An academy is set to replace Hope High School. The academy, sponsored by Oasis Community Learning, will play a strong role in the local community and will link to other schools and colleges across Salford.
It has now been decided that Hope High School will close and a new academy will open in the current school building on 1 September 2008. This has brought forward the earlier proposed opening date of the academy to remove uncertainty and provide a clear direction for the school.
The academy is set to move into a state of the art new school to be built on the Broadway industrial site (Salford Quays). The academy is still scheduled to move into its new building in September 2011.
A joint consultation was carried out by Salford City Council and Oasis Community Learning in 2007 on the proposal to close Hope High School and open the academy.
