What can you expect?
What you can expect from Skills and Work:
- Information on local opportunities and job matching: we keep up to date with local vacancies and training provision that match your profile and aspirations.
- Tailor-made and flexible support: we’ll offer you the support you need. We don’t believe in ‘one-size fits all’!
- Personal and supportive service: your advisor will stay in touch throughout your journey into work.
- Guidance on how to get the job you want: we want to help you into a job you love. We will work with you to enhance your skills and open the doors to a fulfilling work life.
- Help to overcome the barriers that prevent you from working: childcare obligations, concerns about losing benefits, and lack of confidence about your abilities are some of the common barriers people feel stop them from going back to work. We can help you find ways to make working work for you.
- Free resources to support your job search: stamps, computers, paper and envelopes, newspapers, and other materials are freely available in our centres. We can also provide you with free training to improve your skills and help you in your job search.
- Financial support to help you back into work and training: once you are in employment, we may be able to cover your basic food and transport costs before you receive your first salary (from a discretionary fund).
- Recognition for your success: we will give you high street vouchers when you’ve been in a new job for over 13 weeks.
