This privacy policy relates only to Salford City Council's authorised websites (www.salford.gov.uk/otherwebsites).

Salford City Council does not capture and store any personal information about individuals who access this website, except where you voluntarily choose to give us your personal details via email, or by using an electronic form, or enquiring about any of our services.

In these latter cases, in compliance with the EU Directive on Privacy and Electronic Communications the personal data you provide electronically to Salford City Council will be used exclusively for providing you with the information you have requested.

We do not pass any of your personal data to outside organisations and/or individuals, except with your express consent.

Use of cookies

Salford City Council uses cookies for collecting user information for the purpose of rendering our website in your browser in a fully accessible format in order to comply with relevant disability legislation and industry standards.

We conduct a web visitor exit survey which deposits a cookie on visitors' computers. The cookie is used to identify web visitors who have already been offered the survey so that they are not prompted to participate a second time within any three month period. Summary of terms used above

Browser - used to locate and display web pages via a software application. The most popular ones are Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox.

Cookie - a message given to a web browser by a web server. The message is then stored by the browser in a text file called cookie.txt. Each time the browser requests a page from the server, this message is sent back. A cookie's main objective is to identify users and personalise their visit by customising web pages for them for example by welcoming them by name next time they visit the same site. A site using cookies will usually invite you to provide personal information such as your name, email address and interests.

IP (Internet Protocol) - all networks connected to the Internet speak IP, the technical standard that allows data to be transmitted between two devices. TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) is responsible for making sure messages get from one host to another and that the messages are understood.

IP address - if you are connected to the Internet you have one, for example it may look something like this: 128.124.88.4

Web server - delivers (serves up) web pages to your computer.
