Worsley Golf Club

Worsley Golf Club is currently the only club in the area to be working towards the Golf Mark award, accredited by the English Golf Union, to signify a safe environment for juniors to develop their skills. The work undertaken to secure this award highlights the dedication taken by both the Professional Team and the Junior Committee towards providing the best possible environment for juniors to learn and develop golf skills. It is this work ethic and dedication that has resulted in Worsley’s junior section reaching nearly 70 members, and being named the top YMG Golf Club Academy not just in Salford, but Greater Manchester.

To give the best possible start to juniors, the professionals at Worsley have teamed up with a company named Young Masters Golf Ltd. Through using the Young Masters Golf (YMG) scheme, juniors not only learn the fundamentals needed to play golf, but also the rules and etiquette needed when out on the course. The programme therefore provides juniors with everything they need to know and understand to play the game well, and how to behave correctly when on the course. Each of the different courses comprises of eight weekly one-hour sessions, which use a combination of fun learning techniques, games and role-plays to help keep interest long enough for the golfing bug to bite. The success and popularity of YMG speaks for itself, as less than 6 months after joining the scheme, Worsley was named the top YMG Golf Club Academy in Greater Manchester, and the second in Lancashire, with nearly 60 children participating each week. If you are interested in registering for the YMG programme then please do not hesitate to contact Craig as new courses are starting all the time.

After becoming a junior member of Worsley Golf Club, although times are sometimes restricted, juniors can enjoy a round of golf everyday. Junior members are welcome to join in on any ‘roll-up’ competition, knockout or weekend competition, so long as their handicap is 18 or lower. For all juniors throughout the summer months, competitions run nearly every Sunday afternoon, so there are plenty of opportunities to gain competitive experience. Worsley is also a member of the ‘Junior League’, allowing team members to play in competitions at over ten different golf clubs throughout the summer.

All in all, with Worsley being the top YMG academy in Greater Manchester, and arguably providing juniors with more opportunities to play competitive golf than any other golf club in the area, it can be considered the best place for any junior to start their career in golf. If you require any information regarding lessons or joining Worsley, please do not hesitate to contact Craig Bates on 0161 787 8723 or 07790 940537.
