2008 - National Year of Reading

It's the National Year of Reading!

Saturday 26 April 2008 sees the launch of the National Year of Reading in Salford libraries. To celebrate this launch we would like to encourage you to discover what your local library has to offer.

If you are not already a member of your local library then come along from Saturday 26 April to Friday 2 May, join up and borrow a book for your chance to win a £250 Trafford Centre voucher. If you are already a loyal member don’t worry, just come along and borrow a book and you will still be entered into the draw.

On Saturday 26 April staff will be on hand to welcome you in, there are childrens activities at selected branches, instant prizes to be won and even free drinks and cakes. Find out more on our National Year of Reading page.

For reading, surfing, information and much more, why not rediscover your local library?

Browse your library online!

With our online library service you can browse our catalogue, see which items you have on loan, and renew items that you need to borrow for a little longer - if they haven't already been reserved by another library member.

And now you can even reserve items online!

Libraries have changed dramatically in recent years and now is a great time to visit and find out more about the new campaigns to encourage people to read more and get learning.

You will find computers with free Internet access in all libraries, plus help available to use them. All this plus a great choice of books, comprehensive information and helpful staff at all libraries in Salford. You can even buy your books in the library, so why not call in now - its a great time to do so!
