Salford seeks help to put music on the map!

Salford Museum & Art Gallery are putting a shout out for local people's memories of music in and around Salford from 1950 to today - the information collected will create an exhibition called Quiffs Riffs and Tiffs opening October this year and a music map, showing the wide range of musical heritage across the whole of the city. Both will form part of a wider on-going musical heritage project celebrating the variety and scope of Salford's musical landscape.

This period 1950 to today has seem an amazing range of musical styles that have been reflected by Salford musicians and we will covering a huge range of muscial tastes from Ewan McColl, the folk icon to the Ting Tings, reported to be the next big thing! But what about you, what do you want us to include?

Local residents' memories are vital too in building up a picture of the sounds of Salford so memories are being sought from across the whole of the city. Perhaps you had your own band, met someone famous, loved a venue that's no longer there or you just want to tell us of a piece of music that is special to you. Whatever it is please get in touch and make these projects a real Salford success.
