Heritage walks

Trace the surprising and enlightening history of Salford, from the industrial revolution to the present day.
Exercise your body and mind and discover the hidden history of the city on our friendly and informal heritage walks.
There’s a wealth of heritage and history to discover in Salford, and there’s no better way to learn about the city’s fascinating past, than on a heritage walk. These eight walks explore the unknown, often quirky, but always interesting stories of Salford’s history and uncover the hidden facts. Walks leaders will bring to life Ordsall Hall, The Quays, Eccles, Worsley, Swinton, Irlams o’th’ Height and Weaste among others. Plus they’ll also be retelling tales of infamous wakes, bodysnatchers, ghosts, Merchant Princes and Queen Victoria.
Heritage walks are a great way of getting some exercise, meeting new people and discovering more about the city. The walks are suitable for all ages and are on even ground, however not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs.
Lace up your walking shoes and step out for a fun and fact packed walk.
