GhostCam: how it works (technical explanation)
A number of avid ghosthunters have enquired about the technology we use to bring you semi-live spectral images from Ordsall Hall.
Our GhostCams are provided by Axis Communications, a market leader in network video products. For more information visit www.axis.com.
Each camera takes a snapshot every 15 seconds and sends it to our web server, which then keeps the images for 24 hours.
Camera 1, in the Great Hall, is an Axis 211 network camera, using natural light and the light in the Great Hall.
Camera 2, in the Star Chamber, is an Axis 221 day/night camera. During daylight hours the room is illuminated by the lighting in the Star Chamber, but at night the camera switches to infra-red illumination (this is why the night-time images are black and white). The room is illuminated from just above the camera by an Axis ACC IR illuminator at 850nm, 60 degrees width.
