Salford Heritage Outreach Service
Salford Heritage Service offers a range of outreach activities including walks, talks, slideshows, reminiscence resource loan service and reminiscence sessions.
Memories Matter - A new, free Reminiscence Resource Loans Service
We aim to help care homes, residential homes, nursing homes, sheltered housing schemes and day care centres provide reminiscence sessions for their residents and clients. Available for loan are -
- Picture packs of objects
- Themed boxes of objects
- Travelling exhibitions

Heritage walks
The annual heritage walks programme offer an opportunity to exercise your body and mind and discover Salford's hidden history.
Talks and slideshows
We offer a variety of talks, slideshows and reminiscence sessions to groups and societies of all kinds. The programme includes:
- Great Aunt Agnes's suitcase
A reminiscence session explores a long lost suitcase of objects, photographs and documents that has been discovered in the attic.
- Queen Victoria's visit in 1851 or How Zacharia Drakeley Received his Sovereign
An illustrated talk telling the story of Queen Victoria's visit to Salford, her stay in Worsley and the amazing reception in Peel Park
- Give my regards to Broad Street
The fascinating story of one of Salford's main roads: featuring the first horse omnibus service in the country, the horrific murder at Mr Littlewoods house, Grindrett's ghost and much, much more. The talk ends with a slideshow journey along Broad Street, the Crescent and Chapel Street to Victoria Bus Station.
- A selection from the collection
A slideshow featuring some of the best of the 50,000 images in the Heritage Services various photograph collections.
- Worsley and the Bridgewater Canal slideshow
A light-hearted look at the characters involved with the building of the canal and story of Worsley, the birthplace of the transport revolution that fuelled the industrial revolution.
- Mystery Objects quiz
A session featuring a variety of strange and unusual objects from the museum's handling collection.
