When Salford's Peel Park opened in 1846 it was the world's first public park!
The devastating effects of the Industrial revolution on areas such as Ancoats and Hulme in neighbouring Manchester led to the creation of a series of smaller parks in Salford before surrounding areas were built on.
As a result Seedley, Broughton and Ordsall Parks were created and opened in 1876.
The success of Seedley Park also led to the opening of Buile Hill Park in 1903.
