Key features

Entrance Lodge/Visitor Centre
The entrance lodge/visitor centre will be located at the main entrance. This will be developed as an information point with exhibition space, a meeting room, offices for key park staff, public facilities and car parking.

Conservatory
The existing frame will be demolished and replaced with a modern equivalent structure. The interior will be developed as a tropical house, enhanced with displays of edible plants from around the world to support a focus on healthy eating. Butterflies will be introduced to increase the visitor experience.

Lake in Seedley Park
The reintroduction of this distinctive water feature that was one of the strongest elements of the original 1870’s design of Seedley Park, will provide a central attraction and focal point within Seedley Promenades and increase the wildlife and educational value.

Performance Area
The bandstand was an elegant feature that proved to be an activity and visual focus within the park. The reintroduction of a similar feature which supports performance and the creative arts will add to the recreational potential of the park and tie in with the intention to further develop the park as a community events space.

Play Area / Sports
The play area and sporting facilities will be improved to create modern high quality facilities for under 5’s through to teenagers including improvements to the existing play equipment and tennis courts and the introduction of a multi-use games area adjacent to a refurbished crown green bowling green and pavilion.

Site of Mini Golf Course / Development of Biodiversity Habitat
The mini golf course is an example of a rare lowland sandy heath. This will be managed to encourage its natural fauna and flora for increased wildlife and educational value.

Footpaths and Furniture
Footpaths will be repaired and new footpaths introduced to improve accessibility and the visual appearance of the footways. Co-ordinated signs, display boards and park furniture will be developed.

Lighting / CCTV
Contemporary lighting columns will be installed to specific areas along with discreet CCTV columns, improving the overall level of security within the park.

Heritage Trail
A heritage trail will be produced documenting the history of the park and its varying roles within the community.
