Salford City Council and Urban Vision scoop top award

Salford City Council and Urban Vision walked away winners after being awarded a top award at the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards 2008, winning the Public / Private Partnership category for the Salford Construction Partnership.
The Salford Construction Partnership (SCP) is a multi agency organisation that aims to get local people into sustainable construction jobs by working with training and educational bodies and public and private sector developers and contractors.
Since 2004 SCP has:
- secured employment for over 700 Salford residents
- supported 300 Salford residents through construction training courses and apprenticeships
- worked with over 60 contractors and developers.
The LGC judging panel praised the SCP's innovative work, and commended the project for making a real difference to the lives of local families whilst ensuring that local residents had an opportunity to contribute to the regeneration of their own communities.
