The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards
This book was truly captivating. I found it a little hard to get into but persevere and you will not be disappointed. The story starts in 1964 when Dr David Henry finds himself delivering his wife Norah's twins. His son is born healthy, but recognizes Down's Syndrome in his daughter's face. In a sudden decision he asks the nurse to take his daughter away. As his wife mourns David tries to stop his secret getting out.
Relentless by Simon Kernick
Fantastic read - I was totally hooked from the beginning. I am just sorry that I have finished it now. There are twists in this book with the turn of every page. I did feel a bit sorry for the central character - could his life get any worse!
Getting rid of Matthew by Jane Fallon
This is a really good 'chick-lit' book and perfect for the beach! There is not much to this book but it is very readable and humorous. I believe Jane Fallon is Ricky Gervais' partner - maybe she has been picking up comic tips from him. The central character Helen has been having an affair with a married man for four years - she is just deciding that she doesn't want him anymore when he leaves his wife and kids and moves in! A highly recommended light read.
