Mother and toddler reading

You are never too young to join the library!

An early introduction to books helps children become confident readers. Book sharing is not just about reading - it is about spending time with your child.

  • Joining the library is easy and it’s free
  • Lots of different books - board books, picture books and story sacks
  • Story-rhymetimes and special events at libraries
  • Helpful library staff
  • Babies and children can borrow up to ten books for three weeks
  • No fines for late or damaged books

And don't forget that your child is entitled to two lovely book gifts provided by Bookstart - ask your health visitor or child’s school about them. Alternatively you can collect them from any library in Salford - just pop in and ask a member of staff.
