Benefits administration
![]()
Salford City Council is responsible for dealing with two types of benefit.
- Housing Benefit
- Council Tax Benefit (including Second Adult Rebate)
The council does not deal with applications for Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance - these are dealt with by the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) or your local Jobcentre.
The city council's benefits office is committed to providing a quality service to its customers, both claimants and landlords.
The rules surrounding benefits are quite complicated so it is always advisable to contact us if you are in doubt over any aspect of your application or the benefits service in general.
If you need to phone us about a benefit matter, please view our 'how to telephone us' page.
