Swinton Cemetery was opened in 1886.

The 6½ acre grounds have been used for over 16,000 interments to date, with an additional 7 acres of burial land in an adjacent field, to be used when the need arises.

The public toilets are attached to the cemetery lodge, which is located to the right of the main entrance. A number of taps for use by visitors are provided throughout the grounds
