Fees

The cost of all standard birth, death and marriage certificates is £8.00 (inclusive of the administration fee) when applying for certificates via post, online or with a credit/ debit card. We cannot issue a certificate until we have received payment. Cheques or postal orders should be made payable to 'Salford City Council'.

Salford City Council is now operating a guaranteed 2/3 day delivery with the post with a different postal service provider. It is now advisable not to send your own stamped addressed envelope as you may receive your certificates quicker, by letting us address your envelope.

A shorter birth certificate is available for £6.50 (inclusive of the administration fee) when applying for certificates via post, online or with a credit/debit card. This shows the person's name, sex, date of birth and registration district of birth.

The standard birth certificate also shows place of birth, parents' names and occupations of parents.

Overseas applicants are asked to send sterling, by registered mail if possible, or a cheque drawn in pounds sterling (GBP) currency.

Note: if the certificate you have requested is unavailable then we shall issue a refund to you. However please be aware that any refunds will be issued as a cheque payment in GBP that will be posted to you within a few days of having received your request. This will apply irrespective of whether your original payment was arranged by credit or debit card and/or is irrespective of the request's country or origin.

The following cards are accepted for online payment
