Day care
What is day care?
Day centres offer hot food, friendship and support. Each day centre operates slightly differently to provide a range of activities and services. These might include:
- Exercise sessions, including Healthy Hips
and hearts - Healthy eating advice
- Games to promote good movement
- Beauty pampering sessions
- Arts and crafts
There are also some specialist services such as employment training available to some people.
Who provides the care?
The city council provides much of the day care in the city, working with partners.
What should I expect?
Day care should be provided by trained staff and you should be treated with respect and be given choices about what you would like to do while at a centre. Each day centre should have a statement of purpose which you can ask to see.
How can I get the service?
You will need an assessment of your needs and should contact your local community, health and social care office.
