Community occupational therapy and equipment services
What is the service?
The community occupational therapy team work with you to find out what you are finding difficult to manage at home and to look at new ways of doing tasks. They also work very closely with the equipment service to identify equipment that will help you - for example, grab rails, easy-turn taps and bath seats.
If you have more complicated needs, then the service may help you with adaptations to your home, so that you can continue to live there.
Who provides the care?
A specialist team is involved throughout consultation with the individual to ascertain a good understanding of their particular needs and make the changes that make day to day living easier. This involves close liaison between occupational therapists, physical and sensory service, and special needs housing.
What should I expect?
If you require equipment, adaptations or social care needs following a referral
you will receive an assessment according to the urgency of your need. Once the assessment is completed you will be provided with a service.
How can I get this service?
Professionals and members of the public can contact the service by ringing 0161 607 1499 or by visiting:
Burrows House
10 Preistley Road
Wardley Industrial Estate
Wardley
M28 2LY
Does the service cost?
All of our equipment is loaned and so there is no charge. Where we suggest adaptations to your home, we can advise you on any grants that you may be able to apply for, which will help to cover the cost of the work.
