Voluntary Services

Community, Health and Social Care cannot always provide services to everyone who wants them, even when they are finding it difficult to manage at home. There are a number of voluntary organisations which may be able to help, if we cannot.

If we cannot provide services for you, we will normally suggest some organisations that could. Staff have a database of over 1,000 services provided to Salford residents and we will try to look up something to help you. You can also contact social.services@salford.gov.uk.

Some of the services that the voluntary sector provide are:

Voluntary Friends for Older People
A volunteer befriending organisation dedicated to the support of lonely older people with the aim of combating isolation and depression.

Citizens Advice Bureaux in Salford

Domestic Care Service
If you need help with shopping, cleaning or picking up your pension, you can contact Manchester Care Service.

Staying Put
Older people who own their home may be able to get help to repair the home. This is provided by Helping Hands

Mind in Salford
This project is for 18-65 year olds who are using mental health services. For more information telephone 0161-839 3030

Swinton, Pendlebury and Worsley Mencap
Supports and promotes the needs of persons with a learning disability, their parents and carers, and enables them to gain inclusion and independence. Provides a wide range of social and leisure activities for all age groups. For more information, telephone. 0161 728 3246
