Who can get services
Unfortunately, we cannot help everyone who contacts us. We prioritise services for those children who are most at risk of abuse or neglect. Where we can’t help, we will try to give advice and details of other organisations that may be able to help.
We give the greatest priority to families in Level 4 and Level 5. However we will consider providing services at Level 3, particularly for children with disabilities and their families. This allows us to respond to families with more pressing needs within the category.
| Priority level | Service |
|---|---|
| 0 | Universal services aimed at promoting the welfare of all children in the community. |
| 1 | Selective services targeted at families or sections of the community likely to be socially excluded (prevented from accessing or taking part in things the rest of us take for granted). |
| 2 | Families in which children need additional help if their life chances are to be maximised or the risk of social exclusion is to be avoided. |
| 3 | Families who are experiencing great difficulties meeting their children's needs and intervention is needed to stop the situation getting worse. |
| 4 | Families in which there is clear evidence that children are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. Urgent intervention is needed to prevent family breakdown and avoid removing the children from home. |
| 5 | Children looked after or living away from home as a result of actual or likely significant harm or family breakdown. |
