Childhood Illness (Pendlebury Hospital)
The Social Work Team provides a service for families of children aged 0-18 years old, who are in-patients or attend clinical appointments at the hospital. The team is based on two sites in the grounds of the hospital. Our main office is The Lodge. Opening times are Monday-Friday from 8.30am-4.30pm.
Families can contact us directly or ask a member of the hospital staff to contact us and we can offer social work advice and support on either a duty or a long-term basis.
Our duty service operates from 12.30pm – 4.30pm where we accept referrals from hospital medical staff and parents can call into the office for social work advice and support.
Referrals for ongoing long-term advice and support usually come from hospital staff. We can only offer on going long-term advice and support to the families of children with:
- oncology, haematology or renal diagnosis (whether they live in Salford or not)
- delayed development, chronic illness, long term medical problem, severe physical and learning difficulties, behaviours that challenge who live in Salford
- psychiatric disorder, including psychosis, depressive illness (with or without self harming/suicidal behaviours), eating disorders, obsessional disorders and mixed disorders of conduct and emotion who live in Salford.
