IAS Jobshop
The purpose of the IAS Jobshop is to give those people who are furthest away from the labour market the opportunity to work.
We work in partnership with Salford Work Development Unit and Princes Park Garden Centre.
At the Job-Shop we work to find the right supports to enable a person to work. Most people have spent years in preparation in day centres, at college or through the special school system. Subsequently, we need to find the right employment for the individual and support them to work as soon as possible.

The job
Once a position has been identified, the Employment Advisor will liase with the employers and will provide the necessary support to enable the person to secure the job. This may be assistance with the application, at interview and through this into the induction programme.
Support has to be very carefully thought out. We look for the development of competence and then gradually reduce the amount of support. This enables the person to become dependent on the natural supports available within the working environment. We liase with the employer throughout this process.
Partnership
The whole process is very much dependent on partnerships. Employers and indeed employees need to have the security that we will provide the assistance as and when necessary. In the event of the job changing, or there are other circumstances that hinder a person at work, employers need to understand that the Job-Shop will provide the right support to enable the placement to be successful.
