Salford Supported Employment

Lowry Galleries

Salford Supported Employment enables people with disabilities to access opportunities that may lead to open or supported employment.

We aim to give a professional consultancy for employers and disabled employees, promoting the independence of the employee and developing natural supports and integration in the workplace.

We manage the council’s contract with the Jobcentre Plus Workstep programme and are looking for other ways to develop Welfare to Work for disabled people.

We aim to:

  • develop employment opportunities
  • arrange and deliver training
  • develop structured work placements on employers’ premises
  • develop links with the voluntary sector
  • support both the employer and the supported employee to develop the employee’s skills and allow them to move into mainstream employment.

Are you an employer?

  • We will match your needs for staff with the ambitions and abilities of people who have a disability.
  • We will support you and the person with a disability, so that you gain a hard-working, reliable and loyal member of staff and they gain job satisfaction.
  • We can help you to identify tasks that the person with disabilities can do, freeing up resources for other jobs.
  • We can support your staff to gain skills, values and ethics that enable your company to acquire the recognised Disability Symbol Award from Jobcentre Plus.
  • We can help you to identify adaptations to the workplace that will help your company to meet Disability Discrimination Act requirements.
  • We can advise you on sources of funding, to help with adaptations.
