Aims:
To provide awareness of the importance of good nutrition, particularly for older people, and that meal times also have a social purpose.
Learning outcomes:
To have knowledge and understanding of:
- Issues surrounding meal times such as timing, seating, chocie of food and special diets
- The nutritional needs of older people
- Nutritional problems which have physical causes and social causes
- The cultural variations surrounding meals and diets
- How care workers can help to prevent or improve dietary problems such as insufficient food and fluids
