Aims:
People are able to assess risks, and use moving and handling equipment safely.
Learning outcomes:
To ensure people are able to:
- Understand the definition of manual handling
- Be aware of moving and handling legislation
- Follow Health and Safety Executive advice on ergonomics and loads
- Be aware of the importance of the assessment of people, loads and the environment
- Assess risks before moving and handling
- Use an ergonomic approach
- Practice using moving and handling equipment for bed and chair manoeuvres
- Practice hoisting
