Sensory awareness

Aims:
To provide basic awareness of the issues experienced by service users with a sensory impairment.
Learning outcomes:
To have the necessary knowledge and understanding:
- To assist in enabling a visually/hearing impaired person to maintain and improve their quality of life
- Of attitudes towards sensory impairment and their resulting impact on individuals
- Of how environmental conditions may affect the individual and ways to improve this
- Of some common conditions affecting sight and/or hearing and how the effect may differ from person to person
- Of aids and services available and how to access them
