Awarding bodies
The organisations below are the most commonly used awarding bodies for NVQ's:
City & Guilds
City and Guilds have a wide range of qualifications in Health and Social Care. They have also recognised that traditional qualifications are not always appropriate to specific business environments. They have developed an acccreditation programme to validate in-house training schemes, which deal with areas traditional qualifications cannot cover.
Edexcel
Is the largest awarding body in the UK and a part of Pearson plc, they offer a range of services including:
- Curriculum and qualification development
- Training and support for teachers and examiners
- Exam setting
- Testing
- Marking and assessment
- Certification
OCR
OCR qualifications are:
- Nationally recognised and represent the most respected names in education
- Provide enhancement and enrichment to learners of all ages and abilities
- Are created and provided through effective partnerships with over 13,000 educational establishments
- Reflect the requirements of business, industry and higher education, as well as creating increased levels of self-esteem.
