Service user, carer and public involvement award
For outstanding practice in communicating with and involving users, carers and the public.
The winner is
Staff at St. Georges day service

The redevelopment of St Georges has given the staff an opportunity to
support people to learn new skills and try new things. Following detailed, person-centred consultation
with people supported and their families, individuals are now beginning to volunteer and take part in
leisure activities. One person who has attended the centre for more than 20 years used public transport
by themselves for the first time recently. Initially staff have found these changes quite hard, but
with support from managers, they have risen to the challenge and are now enthused by the new culture.
Congratulations to finalists
Clare Mayo, user development worker (mental health)

and
Linzi Brook, user development worker (learning dificulties) and Julie Lowe, development link worker (learning difficulties)
