Fraudulent callers
Members of the public are being asked to be vigilant after a warning that there may be fraudulent callers posing as council staff to obtain bank details.
A member of the public contacted the customer contact centre suspicious that that they had been asked for their financial details to pay off council tax arrears despite not owing anything.
Members of the public in any doubt about the legitimacy of the caller are advised to ask for the name of the officer and their department. They should then contact the council switchboard on 794 4711 and ask to be put through to that person.
Please note that Salford City Council does, on occasion, contact residents to discuss issues relating to council tax arrears.
