Pendleton Private Finance Initiative
In 1997, the government stated its vision for housing in England - 'to improve housing conditions and contribute to the creation of successful, thriving and inclusive communities that will stand the test of time and in which people want to live'.
To achieve this vision, the government set local authorities a target to improve all their council housing to meet a minimum 'Decent Homes Standard'. This means that the home is warm, weatherproof and has reasonably modern facilities.
Salford City Council introduced plans to make sure all social and council housing across the city meets this standard in the next few years.
In Pendleton, the improvement works will be funded through a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and as part of this scheme, some areas of Pendleton will be completely redeveloped.
These web pages tell you more about what is proposed. You can find out about the vision for Pendleton, what is being proposed for each estate, the timescales of the work and who to contact. If you have any questions, take a look at our frequently asked questions page, or if you want to speak to somebody in person, find out how to make an appointment.
The council is committed to keeping you informed about what is happening so these webpages are constantly updated when any new information is available.
For more information on the government’s Decent Homes Standard visit Communities and Local Government or contact the Pendleton team at Salix Homes.
