Housing Connections Partnership works with housing providers across Salford to offer a furnished homes service for those who need some extra help when setting up a home for the first time.
Who can apply for a furnished home?
Anyone new council or housing association tenant who needs this service can apply.
Where are furnished homes available?
Furnished homes are available in selected areas throughout the city. You may move into a home that has been furnished for a while, or we may be able to newly furnish a home for you.
What is provided?
It is possible to have a range of furniture provided, depending on your needs. This could include:
- Carpets
- Curtains
- Cooker
- Fridge or fridge freezer
- Beds
- Wardrobes
- Chests of drawers
- Dining table and chairs
- Lamp shades
- Coffee table
If you are moving into a newly furnished home, you can choose your colour scheme from the following:
- Blue
- Green
- Wine
- Terracotta
How does the rent work?
You will pay the standard amount of rent for your home, plus an additional charge for whatever furniture you have.
This will be calculated based on your requirements.
Will the cost be covered by housing benefit?
Yes, the full rent and the furniture charge is benefit eligible.
How do I apply?
You can apply for a furnished home by contacting Salford Home Search or by telling your housing officer at your first housing interview. The furnished homes team will provide as much help as they can to make sure you get a furnished home as quickly as possible.
