Renting a home in Salford

There is a new and improved lettings service to replace the old Salford Property Shop. Known as Salford Home Search, the service will come under the city council’s new housing support service, Housing Connections Partnership.
Salford Home Search provides home seekers with a greater choice when looking for a home to rent whether it’s a council property managed by New Prospect or Salix Homes, a housing association or an accredited private landlord.
The big difference to the old lettings service is that instead of home seekers needing to wait for a property to be offered to them, they are able to say they’re interested in a home by placing a bid.
What do I need to do?
You need to register with Salford Home Search by visiting www.salfordhomesearch.co.uk, calling (0161) 909 6514 or by visiting Salford Home Search, 45 Hankinson Way, Salford. Once this is completed you can start looking for a new home and place a bid for ones you are interested in.
Available properties will be advertised weekly on www.salfordhomesearch.co.uk and in property advertising sheets that are available from Salford Home Search, Salix Homes offices, New Prospect offices, Salford Civic Centre, Crompton House and Halton House.
If you require further information or would like to register with Salford Home Search please visit www.salfordhomesearch.co.uk, call (0161) 909 6514 or drop into the Salford Home Search property shop.
As these changes give people greater choice, it is known as Choice Based Lettings.
There will be a new allocations policy which is a set of rules to support the system that determines which how priority is given to some bidders over others for the various properties.
Here's the full allocations policy.
