The Broughton Renewal Area

On 25 April 2006 the Cabinet authorised the declaration of a Renewal Area in Broughton for a period of five years with effect from 4 May 2006. Download a brief summary of the key findings of the Neighbourhood Renewal Assessment and the proposed action plan for the area from the foot of this page.
Through extensive consultation with residents and stakeholders for the renewal area has now been agreed and can be viewed on the Broughton Renewal Area Action Plan.
The renewal area has been defined as the area bordered by the river Irwell to the west, Bury New Road to the east, Camp Street to the South and boundary between the Broughton Ward and the North Irwell Riverside to the North.
The action plan is divided into five section:
- Housing
- Environment
- Consultation and Community
- Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour
- Traffic and Transport
Public events were held on 8 December 2005 and 10 August 2006 at St Johns Court and each section of the action plan addresses issues and concerns raised by residents and stakeholders at these meetings. If you would like to see an analysis please refer to the brief summary report.
A number of renewal area surveys have been carried out and their results have contributed to the ongoing consultation process. In addition, a steering group consisting of residents and stakeholders continue to meet regularly to monitor the progress of the action plan and ensure its actions are delivered.
