Landlord references
New reference service launched
When a person applies to move into your property, it is common practice to ask them for references from previous landlords, employers or others. In the past our reference service only covered tenants who had resided in properties that were council owned and managed by New Prospect, the new service introduces a service for the Private Rented Sector. The newly developed service uses the EXPERIAN credit checking facility to verify addresses and other details. Where there are concerns raised in the application futher investigation will be instigated with the consent of the applicant.
If your property is managed through an agent, this service should be carried out on the landlord's behalf.
This service is free of charge to accredited landlord's, private landlord's, other local authorities and housing associations
How is the reference obtained?
The reference is based upon information held by Salford City Council, the Police and EXPERIAN. It takes into account your applicant's tenancy history including arrears and nuisance behaviour.
The Landlord Accreditation team use all reasonable care to satisfy that the information supplied is accurate, based upon up-to-date information, obtained from reliable sources and complete.
How can you apply for a reference?
The reference request form, available on this page to download, must be completed and signed by the tenant. No alternative signed document from the tenant will be accepted. Further information is available from the Landlord Accreditation team.
