Pregnancy
Whether this is your first baby or subsequent addition to your family, having a baby can be a very exciting and unpredictable time for mum, dad and other members of the family. Here you will find useful links and advice on pregnancy and having children. The information available will cover areas such as before, during and after the birth of your baby.
One of the first things you should do when you are pregnant is contact your GP. If you do not have a GP, you need to register with one as soon as possible - if you are new to the area you may want to use the NHS Local Search facility to help you find a GP local to you.
Before and during your pregnancy you may want information on how to look after yourself and your unborn child, your partner's role, choosing maternity care, what to expect during the pregnancy and hospital visits. The following pages will give you a wealth of information whether you are mum or dad.
- Having a Baby (BBC)
- The National Childbirth Trust
- Registering the birth in Salford - you must register the birth within 42 days of the date your baby is born.
- The Department for Work and Pensions web site has information on specific benefits/services you may now be entitled to.
