Air Quality Review and Assessments 1999-2000
The First Round of Air Quality Review and Assessments (AQRA) in Salford were undertaken between 1999 and 2000, the outcome of which was the declaration (in June 2001) of Air Quality Management Areas for nitrogen dioxide and particles.
Air Quality Review and Assessments 2003-2004
The second and most recent round of Air Quality Review and Assessments in Salford were undertaken between 2003 and 2004. The aim of the review was to identify matters that may have changed since the first air quality review, which might lead to a risk of an air quality objective being exceeded.
Seven pollutants given in the Air Quality Regulations 2000 (and amendments) were assessed. The conclusion reached was that out of the seven pollutants, five would meet the objectives (ozone, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, benzene, and 1,3 butadiene), with a risk that two would not meet the objectives (nitrogen dioxide and particles (PM10)).
