Newlands / Lower Irwell Valley Improvement Area (LIVIA)

Salford City Council recognise the importance of open space to the quality of life of local people.
The city council has been working for many years to try to improve the open spaces in the Irwell Valley. The area known as the Lower Irwell Valley Improvement Area or LIVIA, refers to land that lies between the M60 in the North and Agecroft Road in the South, running more or less between Bolton Road and the River Irwell from West to East.
This area of land has seen many changes over the years. More recently, some of these have been improvements but for over a hundred years the site has suffered from a legacy of dereliction and neglect.
