Salford City Council - Flood Risk and Development Planning Guidance

Salford City Council has prepared Planning Guidance to ensure that new development built in areas at risk of flooding in Salford is adequately protected from flooding and that the risk of flooding elsewhere is not increased as a result of new development.
The Planning Guidance sets out the guidelines which the council as Local Planning Authority will use as a material consideration in determining applications for planning permission and other matters where development has an impact on flood risk.
The Planning Guidance supplements Policy EN19: Flood Risk and Surface Water of the City of Salford Unitary Development Plan (UDP) (adopted June 2006) and translates the principles and key findings of the City of Salford Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) into a set of planning requirements to guide new development in areas at risk of flooding.
The Draft version of this Planning Guidance was subject to a period of public consultation, which ended on Thursday 9 August 2007. Proposed Amendments to the Draft Guidance was subject to a period of consultation which ended on Thursday 28 February 2008. The Consultation Statement and Schedule of Representations and the Council’s Response to both periods of consultation are available to view and download at the bottom of this page.
