There are many plans, strategies and policy documents that have now been superseded and are no longer in active use. However some of these may still be of some interest from the point of view of historic context and selected documents therefore remain available to view under this achive section.
Please remember the documents within this archive section no longer have any formal status in planning policy terms and you should refer to other relevant pages of the web site for current planning policies.
City of Salford Unitary Development Plan (UDP) 1995
Salford City Council's first UDP was adopted in November 1995, but has now been superseded by the City of Salford Unitary Development Plan 2004- 2016, which was adopted in June 2006. Printed copies of the UDP are also available to view:
- At Salford libraries
- At Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, Salford, (Opening times: Monday to Friday, 8:30am- 4.30pm)
Unitary Development Plan Review Documents
The currently adopted UDP went through many stages and drafts before it was formally adopted in June 2006. Summaries of these earlier draft documents can be viewed here.
Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG)
A number of Supplementary Planning Guidance documents were prepared to supplement the 1995 UDP, but their status as SPG has now lapsed following the adoption of the 2006 UDP. Some of the SPG's have now been replaced by Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD's). A number of the old SPG documents can still be viewed by following the above link.
Other Planning Guidance
Other planning related documents that have been produced in the past include;
- Chapel Street Planning Obligations Development Control Policy Note - this has now been replaced by the Planning Obligations SPD which was adopted on the 21 March 2007
- Encouraging Better Design - this has now been replaced by the Design SPD which was adopted in March 2008.
Background studies
A number of studies were carried out in order to inform policies within the Replacement Unitary Development Plan 2004-2016. These studies include the Employment Land Study (2004), The Urban Potential Study (2003) and the Retail Assessment (2003). These stuides will be updated/ replaced in the coming months as part of work on Salford City Council's Core Strategy.
