Unitary Development Plan (UDP)

The Unitary Development Plan (UDP) is a statutory document that sets out the council's planning policies that will be used to guide development, conservation, regeneration and environmental improvement activity in Salford.
Decisions on planning applications must be made in line with the UDP, unless there are clear material considerations which dictate why this should not be the case.
Salford’s current UDP is the City of Salford Unitary Development Plan 2004 - 2016, which was adopted by the city council on 21 June 2006.

The UDP has undergone an extensive process of public consultation and examination over a period of seven years. Details of these stages of development can be seen at the Stages of UDP Review.
Conservation Area Boundary Revisions
Salford City Council is currently undertaking appraisals of all the city's conservation areas. Boundary revisions have been made to the following Conservation Areas
- Barton-upon-Irwell Conservation Area
- Worsley Village Conservation Area
- The Cliff Conservation Area
- The Crescent Conservation Area

The 1995 Plan
The UDP adopted by the city council on 21 June 2006 replaces the city's first Unitary Development Plan, which was adopted in 1995.
The 1995 UDP can still be viewed. This version of the plan no longer has any formal status in planning terms.
