Planning brief for area of development pressure: Buile Hill Park
Approved - May 2004
The planning brief (SPG8 - Buille Hill Park) focused on three sites of development pressure in Buile Hill Park. These being 'Seedley Park Entrance Lodge', 'Courtyard Area' and 'Buile Hill Entrance Lodge'. The brief sets out the policy context and provided more detailed guidance for the development of these sites. The overall purpose was to promote the redevelopment of the sites to a use and design that is sympathetic and complimentary to its location within an historic park.
Buile Hill Park is included in the 'English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest' with Grade II status. At the time of producing this document proposals for the restoration of the park had been produced through a restoration masterplan. An application for £3 million towards a total cost of £7 million funding has been submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Under the new planning system it is not proposed to review or update this document as it is considered that adequate guidance is provided elsewhere.
