Bulky items

We work hard to discourage environmental problems such as flytipping (illegal dumping). One method is to provide a service for the removal of bulky household waste from both domestic & commercial premises.

How to arrange collection of bulky items

We will collect 3-4 bulky items from you on request at a cost of £20.50 per collection - but this does not include builders rubble, bricks, concrete, paving flags and other heavy items & gas bottles.

Note that fridges and freezers are not included in this charge.  They are subject to an additional cost due to the disposal restrictions

We are unable to remove gas bottles and suggest you ring the suppliers - the telephone number is usually printed on the item.

If you need us to collect more than 3-4 items, our co-ordinator will visit you to quote an individual price. For further information please ring our call centre on 909 6500 who will take your details and arrange for a visit.

Exceptions to these charges are for OAPs on full council tax benefit or full housing benefit, providing the collection is only for 3-4 items. Anything more than this will have to be estimated by one of the co-ordinators before we can collect.

Collection advice

We will endeavour to remove the items any day (including weekends) within 7 to 14 days.

To help us to do this, please leave items for collection on your property – but somewhere where they can easily be reached.

Commercial premises

We will collect from commercial premises – but only after a visit from one of our co-ordinators is made, a price is agreed and our estimate form signed.

Items requiring special handling arrangements

The following items require a seperate collection (which may include an additional charge) as there are restrictions for either legal reasons or because the items are classed as hazardous. These are:

  • Asbestos
  • Fridges / freezers
  • Tyres
  • Gas canisters
  • Fluorescent lights
  • Sun bed tubes

Please call 0161 909 6500 for more information on how to dispose of these items or visit the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority website.
