Domestic refuse
Salford City Council provides a refuse collection service for all homes in the city. This service is paid for through your council tax payments.
Your refuse is collected once a week from your home. Refuse collections are carried out Tuesday - Friday (depending on where you live) and are not normally affected by bank holidays. If they are will let you know by putting stickers on domestic bins, advertisements in local newspapers and through our web pages.

Reduce, reuse, recycle!
Did you know that around 100,000 bins are emptied throughout Salford each week producing about 2,000 tonnes of rubbish?
With your help, around 70-80% of Salford's domestic waste could be recycled so that it does not end up in landfill sites.
Salford City Council sees recycling as being very important and we are always looking for ways to provide you with easier access to recycling facilities.
Composting
A large proportion of household waste is bio-degradable and suitable for composting. As well as reducing waste to landfill, home composting can provide a rich, nutritious soil conditioner. To help residents, we provide discounted home composting bins.
