Assisted collections

Salford City Council can provide assistance to residents who are unable to wheel their own bins to the kerbside for collection because of disability, ill health or mobility problems.

To apply for assistance please either ring the call centre on 0161-909 6500 or email us environment@salford.gov.uk. Once your request has been logged on our system you will be sent a form to complete, outlining your application. All information provided will be treated in confidence and in strict accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. We will only share information with your consent or if the law allows us to.

Upon receipt of the completed form we will send you a letter to inform you of the outcome of your application.

The assisted bin collection scheme offers our help with your wheelie bins for both waste & recycling. Once you are on our list your recycling bins will also be included for assistance, this includes those addresses in areas who are yet to receive their new blue & brown bins.

If you have a pink lidded garden waste bin then please ring the Call Centre to request assistance. This is not offered automatically as not every resident uses this service but if you are on our list to receive assistance then your records will be amended to include this bin as well, following your call to the call centre to request the service.

PLEASE NOTE - In an effort to keep the list as up to date as possible, a renewal form will be sent to all those households registered on the list to ask that they re-apply. If a written response is not received within the timescale given then your details will be taken off our assisted list, without further notice, and you will then be expected to place your bins at the kerbside ready for collection on the appropriate day.

As you can appreciate, this is a costly service to us and we would ask that you have no other means of placing your bin out for collection.
