Dustbins
Salford City Council provides a refuse collection service to all domestic premises in the city. This service is paid for through your council tax payments.
Your refuse is collected once a week from your home. See bin collection dates for your day of collection. Your bin must be available for 6.30am.
You've missed my bin! What should I do?
Please call 0161-909 6500 as soon as possible. Every effort will be made to empty your bin the same day. Where this is not possible alternative arrangements will be made.
I've forgotten to put my bin out! What should I do?
Please call 0161-909 6500 as soon as possible. Again, if practicable to do so, we will endeavour to get your forgotten bin emptied the same day. Where this is not possible alternative arrangements will be made.
My wheelie bin has been stolen. What should I do?
Please call us on 0161-909 6500 or email environment@salford.gov.uk and we will arrange to provide you with a replacement as soon as stocks allow. Please remember this service is run City wide and there is a waiting list.
What size wheelie bins are available?
We operate the following policy regarding the issue of wheelie bins for domestic properties:
- The standard issue wheelie bin has a capacity of 240 litres
- Alternatively a smaller 140 litre bin for the elderly, infirm or those living alone can be provided.
- If a request is received from a resident with a property that has six or more occupants, then a 360 litre wheelie bin may be issued, subject to the occupants of the property proving they are committed to reducing their waste via our comprehensive recycling service offered throughout Salford City Council.
