Stephanie Bierwas
After studying at Salford University and spending a couple of years in Knowsley, it was like 'coming home' when Stephanie Bierwas returned to Salford. Now an Environmental Health Officer (Pollution Control) she has been working in the city for two years and is thoroughly enjoying herself.
She says the work is both rewarding and challenging - although this may not come across in 'Life of Grime'.
Stephanie and a colleague were featured in the programme about the removal of a burnt out asbestos garage, but says: "The situation was very different from that portrayed on camera. There was a grave risk to health and we not only used the correct methods to remove the risk but also gave a lot of help to Mr O'Shaughnessy."
When not involved in sorting out pollution problems in the city, Stephanie relaxes with healthy pursuits including yoga and cycling.
If you require more information about the work of the pollution control team, please phone 0161 793 2010.
