Chris Singleton
Flying Officer Chris Singleton is on a 15 month secondment to Salford City Council - and thoroughly enjoying his time in the city where he was born and brought up.
After ten years in the RAF he is already a fully qualified military Environmental Health Officer, but is spending one year in Salford as part of a four year civilian course at King's College, London.
He can be seen on one of the Life of Grime programmes sorting out the removal of asbestos following a garage fire. He was also filmed at RAF Henlow - but that bit didn't make it into the final programme.
Chris says his time in Salford has been a real eye opener. "I have experienced situations I would never have come across in the RAF. But the real bonus is the people of Salford who are absolutely great."
In September he returns to university and then to Wiltshire, from where he will take up the job of a lifetime - being an environmental 'troubleshooter' all around the world.
